According to the Business Survey conducted by the People's Bank of China, in Q2 2008, China macroeconomic index continued to decline, indicating that the effect of the macroeconomic adjustment policies was unfolding.
The survey shows that the macroeconomic index fell in two consecutive quarters from its historical high of 18.4 percent in Q4 2007 to 12.3 percent in this quarter, a decrease of 6.1 percentage points. The percentage of businesses considering the macro-economy "slightly overheated" dropped by 1.6 percentage points to 17.8 percent after a dent of 2.3 percentage points in the previous quarter. This index indicates that the effect of the macroeconomic adjustment was gradually unfolding.
